“Hachiko Sauce”
with the trademark of Hachiko,
the iconic loyal dog
of Shibuya.
Hachiko Sauce was established in 1931 as Ogawa Shoten and started manufacturing sauce in Shibuya Ward the
following
year. In 1946, the product with Hachiko Sauce labels was released and subsequently, we changed the company
name to Hachiko Sauce in 1966.
While many decades have passed, Hachiko Sauce has maintained its handmade
taste by using the original recipe handed down from generation to generation to keep the taste unchanged.
When the founder from Akita Prefecture established a business in Shibuya, he found inspiration in Akita dog Hachiko, which had become a symbol of Shibuya. Because of his affinity for Hachiko and as a tribute to the loyal dog, he decided to register the bronze statue of Hachiko as the company’s trademark.
It is our basic sauce made from various vegetables and fruits, along with 10 different kinds of spices.
It tastes tangy and sweet with a spicy flavor and has a smooth texture.
This sauce is best for use in yakisoba, potato salad, and as a secret ingredient in Japanese curry to enrich the taste.
It’s a thick and rich sauce using more fruit and vegetables in Worcester Sauce to create a well-balanced taste of
sourness and richness.
Chuno Sauce can be used for all deep-fried dishes such as Tonkatsu (deep-fried pork) and croquettes.
This is an all-purpose sauce and a popular product at restaurants in the Shibuya area.
Fruit sauce is thicker and richer than Chuno Sauce and it has been our best-selling product since its release.
This sweet and rich sauce goes well with Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki.
